Disclaimer: This is a no-frill post! lol

To be Kingdom-minded is to know who the King is; to know His territory and the authority we have in the Kingdom.

Can I be completely transparent and vulnerable? I was "today years old" when I realized that the 'Model Prayer' has actual significance. Like many other Believers, I thought Matthew 6:8-13 was just a recommendation on how to pray. However, after really reading (or more accurately stated - being read) by Luke 4:17-21, the very things Jesus said had been fulfilled in him reading the scroll, are the very things Jesus teaches the disciples to pray for.

Ultimately, I realize that to be Kingdom-minded. I have to understand the Kingdom. Love and humility is what sustains the Kingdom, but understanding our role/authority in the Kingdom is the catalyst for the Kingdom to come! Thank God for the Holy Spirit; a teacher indeed!

  • A country, state, or territory ruled by a king or queen.

  • The spiritual reign or authority of God

The King - Jesus

Ephesians 1:21-23 AMP

21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion [whether angelic or human], and [far above] every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and world but also in the one to come. 22 And He put all things [in every realm] in subjection under Christ’s feet, and appointed Him as [supreme and authoritative] head over all things in the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills and completes all things in all [believers].

Matthew 28:18 AMP

18Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

Authority Given to God's Family

Genesis 1:26-28

26 Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it [putting it under your power]; and rule over (dominate) the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

Luke 10:19 AMP

19Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.

Matthew 16:19 AMP

19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven

John 14:13 AMP

13 And I will do whatever you ask in My name [[a]as My representative], this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified and celebrated in the Son.

In Luke 4:17-21 AMP, Jesus proclaims the Kingdom.

17 The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written,

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me (the Messiah), Because He has anointed Me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent Me to announce release (pardon, forgiveness) to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind,To set free those who are oppressed (downtrodden, bruised, crushed by tragedy),19 to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the favor of God abound greatly].”

20 Then He rolled up the scroll [having stopped in the middle of the verse], gave it back to the attendant and sat down [to teach]; and the eyes of all those in the synagogue were [attentively] fixed on Him. 21 He began speaking to them: “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing and in your presence.”

In Matthew 6:8-13 AMP, Jesus teaches the disciples to pray according to precepts of the Kingdom

8 So do not be like them [praying as they do]; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

“Pray, then, in this way:

‘Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.10 Your kingdom come,Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.11 ‘Give us this day our daily bread.12 ‘And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors [letting go of both the wrong and the resentment].13 ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
