I Am The Door Of The Sheep

I Am The Door Of The Sheep

John 10:7-9

Then Jesus said to them again,

“Most assuredly, I say to you, I am

The door of the sheep.” All who

ever came before Me are thieves

and robbers, but the sheep did not hear

them. I am the door. If anyone enters by Me,

He will be saved, and will go in and out and

find pasture.

Sheep farming back in Jesus day had sheep pens with only 1 entrance.

The Shepherd had to act as a door to keep the sheep in and the wolves out.

The Shepherd was the only way in. You had to go through HIM.

To hop on over to John 10:10

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.

The shepherd is our protector against these wolves aka thieves, deceivers, and  murderers spiritually and earthly speaking.

In order to receive salvation, protection, and an abundant life you have to go through

Jesus and Jesus is waiting at the entrance for those seeking Him.

In Psalms 23: 1-3

The lord is my shepherd;

I shall not want.

He make me to lie down in green

He leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul;

He leads me in the paths of

For His name’s sake

The scripture says if anyone enters by ME, he will be saved and will go in and out and find Pasture .

Green pastures symbolize a place of rest, having all of our needs met. It is in this place we find restoration and alignment.

Sheep love pastures . They’re a grazing animal and were meant to graze the pastures and eat the grass and unlike other animals like goats they don’t destroy the land.

As a child of God you will only find rest being in the right place (will of God )and that is through Christ Jesus.

I often wonder about the significance and symbolism behind sheep and what I’ve learned is Sheep are prone to wandering and therefore need provision and guidance. Sheep are seen as defenseless when in the face of danger. In even more extreme cases sheep are also seen as gullible, slow, and stupid. While I don’t believe God is calling His sheep those extreme attributes,  I do believe that when we are out of alignment with God and in the world wandering, we’re prone to fall prey to those things and will inevitably fall into the mouths of wolves.

We need our shepherd.

Something I realized recently is that God is at

the entrance waiting for many to return to Him. You may be wandering, you may feel lost, or maybe you believe you’ve messed up so bad that now you feel you’re too jacked up to come to God. So now you’re stalling and you keep telling yourself “I’ll come back to God when I do this first or when I do that”. But God doesn’t get the glory in us “getting it all together first” without Him. Perfecting in Hebrews means freedom from sin. That is only possible through God.  God wants us to come to Him first when we are on top of the mountain top and when we’re in the valleys. I used to believe that I had to be mentally strong enough to fight certain battles such as lust or drug addiction on my own and if I didn’t something was defective in me. That perhaps I am not doing this christian walk correctly. This belief would send me into a deep depressive episode and I would feel so defeated.

But it was in my valley that I realized we were never meant to carry anything on our own. That we can in fact goto God in our weakness and lean on Him. I don’t care if a donut is your weakness or that Mr. Wrong. I’ve been there. Alot of us have.  That is literally what God wants to be for us. Our resting place. Our place of restoration. Our place of freedom. We get our strength from the Father, not our earthly ability to fight against dark principalities and powers. We need God for those battles.
