God's Tests Reveal the Heart

God may say something to you, but only He knows why He said it and what He wants His message to do or reveal.

Look at this verse:

Isaiah 55:11 - "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish WHAT I PLEASE, And it shall prosper in THE THING FOR WHICH I SENT IT."

When God told Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, He didn't really want Isaac to be sacrificed. He wanted to reveal what was in Abraham's heart. Test Abraham to reveal who he loved more.

When God tests us, He may tell us to do things that seem damaging to the promises He made to us. It's His way to see what's in our hearts and to test our love and loyalty to Him.

Our love and loyalty is always being tested. Why?

Because the minute we fold and compromise is the minute that we become a liability. We WILL be manipulated by Satan and used to steal, kill, and destroy.

Want some practical examples of these tests? Okay.

He might have told you to stop watching prophetic or Kingdom Marriage videos.

He might have said to end the relationship.

He might have told you to stay single and focus on Him.

He might have told you to serve where you were promised to lead.

He might have told you to wait indefinitely.

He might have plainly said "no" (Matthew 15:26-28).

Our reactions reveal what's in our hearts. Our words might say His promises aren’t idols for us, but our actions speak louder.

God allowed me to discern the hearts of many who were told to walk away from their promises.

The hearts were angry, rebellious, annoyed, and/or distraught. Basically a mix of negative emotions. The hearts responded loudly to God as a result of the test.

Here were some of the test results:

"Give me what I want and leave me alone."

"You're always asking for so much!"

"You're so annoying, You always want something"

"You are not worth the time or the energy"

"You think Im giving this up for You?"

"You are a terrible God. Why cant you just give me what I want and be done with it"

"This is exactly why people don't serve you."

"If you don't give me what I want, Im leaving you"

People of God, we cant stop are hearts from talking to God nor can we control what our hearts reveal to Him; this communication is happening all the time, whether we realize it or not. All we can do is train our hearts (through prayer, fasting, repenting, dying to self) to respond to Him correctly. This is what’s referred to as “heart posture”.

Here’s what the Word says concerning these tests:

Jeremiah 17:10:

"I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings."

Want to know how to pass these tests every time?

Love God more than everything else. Make Him your number 1 priority. Learn to choose God every time, then when the tests come around, you won’t fail them.

There are times where God will stop the test and promote us, qualify us, or elevate us because all we needed to show was that we would be WILLING to obey.

Sometimes we will need to complete the entire test.

Regardless, passing the test QUALIFIES us to move forward to new levels, new promotions, new opportunities—everything becomes new!

So, what is your heart revealing to God during your tests?

May this word break cycles of retention and delay in your life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
